International Association for Jazz Education
Arkansas Unit President Endel called the meeting to order. Old Business: President Endel gave a report on the IAJE Regional Conference to be held at Baylor University in Waco, TX April 15-16, 2005. Each state is to provide performance groups and clinic sessions. Arkansas college and high school jazz groups were encouraged to apply to perform and individuals were encouraged to apply to present clinic sessions. There will also be a College All-Star Jazz Band at the conference. Students are encouraged to submit an audition tape. Jon Faddis will be the guest artist. New Business: The Arkansas Unit Web Site is in the process of being revised by Bill Halbrook. Members are encouraged to send him announcements of concerts and special events to post. The new address is: www.ariaje.org. The need for a state newsletter was discussed as necessary to be in compliance with the new IAJE State Unit Guidelines. It was decided to incorporate this information on the web site. The state unit voted to organize a clinic session for the All-State Conference in February on the topic of "Teaching Swing to Young Players." Jackie Lamar volunteered to coordinate a panel discussion. The following panelists were suggested: Mike Packard, Mike Copeland, Stony Evans and Rick Endel. Officers: President: Rick Endel, Coleman Jr. High, Van Buren, rendel@coleman.wsc.k12.ar.usIAJE Web Site: www.iaje.org State Unit Site: www.ariaje.org Membership Dues for Professionals: $68 Students: $30 |
