Arkansas Unit Minutes President Rick Endel called the meeting to order. Members present: Rick Endel, Warren Casey, Donna Maher, David Stern, Bill Halbrook, Larry Jones, Mike Jones, Clay Hooten, Tom Lippert. Old Business: All-State Jazz Clinician Plaques were purchased for $75.87 for clinicians Terell Stafford and Jackie Lamar. Jackie Lamar presented a clinic sponsored by IAJE for the All-State Music Conference titled "Jazz for the Jazz Challenged." Thanks to Vice President David Stern for organizing the ABA-IAJE Reading Band. The event was a great success. Winger-Jones provided the music for the reading session. Thanks to all members and others who performed and assisted with the reading band. Endel mentioned some challenges concerning our presentation slot at ABA. The group was committed to improving the timing for next year. New Business: President Endel reported on the International Convention and informed the membership of a new program of Regional Conferences. The regional conference for Arkansas will be at Baylor University on April 15-16, 2005. Eachstate is to provide clinic sessions and performing groups for the event. President Endel requested schools and universities apply for spots. Interested parties should contact him. Members discussed the possibility of using the 2004 All-State Jazz Bands as our representatives at the convention. Many ideas were discussed with none agreed on. In addition, Endel reminded members of the international convention in Long Beach, CA January 2005 and hopes many of us can attend. Endel discussed the revamping of our website, listing several items that must be included according to the IAJE home office.
